--- My Dog Tulip tentatively has a completion date of July 31, 2008. It will be the intent of the producers to premiere the film in competition at the Cannes Film Festival in mid-May, 2009, following with the theatrical release in London, the scene of Ackerley’s real life years with his dog, Tulip.
--- In the new book written by celebrated British author Alan Bennett (Beyond the Fringe, History Boys) titled "The Uncommon Reader: A Novella", homage is paid to the great J.R. Ackerley and the book "My Dog Tulip".
--- IDFA to honor Paul Fierlinger at its annual film fest in Amsterdam –
This year IDFA will host a total of three Masterclasses and presentations given by acclaimed filmmakers Maziar Bahari (Iran), Paul Fierlinger (USA) and Werner Herzog (Germany/USA).
The Masterclasses are aimed at experienced industry professionals and young emerging filmmakers, but are also open to the general audience. The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam is the largest documentary festival in the world. Every year since 1988, more than 250 international documentaries are screened for a huge number of film lovers and professionals.
20 years of IDFA –
2007 is a special year for IDFA. It marks the 20th anniversary of the festival, which, together with the FORUM, Docs for Sale and the Jan Vrijman Fund, is now one of the most influential documentary institutes in the world.
